Through the lockdown, Instagram has seen a huge rise in fitness trainers and influencers utilising this social media platform as a way to gain a clientele. However, we all know that doing the same thing over and over gets stale. Therefore, by searching around I found a great collection of accounts whose interest in fitness and general wellbeing aligned with my own. By doing a variety of styles of workouts, I think you can reap the best results!
Of course, we all have our favourite trainers, but if you are stuck and looking for inspiration, I hope this post can be a great tool for choosing your next workout. That being said, there are many more INCREDIBLE fitness accounts on Instagram, however, this is dedicated to my top few ladies. I will also be doing a separate post on the best running accounts you can follow so stay tuned.
And the best part… All of these workouts are completely free of a charge. Happy reading!
- Courtney Black // @courtneydblack
The ultimate queen of Instagram lives, Courtney Black is an incredible trainer who has spun the likes of 800k Instagram followers. With her sweat-dripping HIIT sessions and infamous ‘Warrior Wednesday’ Courtney’s energy is infectious. It is no wonder that she has grown such a committed team of warriors who have stuck with her fitness journey.
My favourite workouts from Courtney have to be her boxing sessions, her latest Grenade class and the 30 minute Abs Focused HIIT. Although, we won’t even talk about how effortless she makes doing a chest to floor burpee look (it just isn’t that easy).
2. Steph Currie // @stephcurrie
1/2 of the incredibly successful F#@KYE$21 fitness program which launched at the start of the year as a way to keep individuals across the globe accountable to achieve their fitness goals, Steph and her partner Mantas Zvinas (@mantaszvinas) have created a powerful community whose passion for health extends beyond working out. As a qualified SoulCycle instructor, Steph brings her soulful, Ariana Grande loving vibe to everything she does. On her Instagram page is tons of quick-fire workouts which seriously have you getting a sweat on.
3. Stephanie Elswood (Healthy Chef Steph) // @stephelswood
The dancing queen herself, Steph is an incredible account to follow for fitness inspiration. After the success of her in-person ‘Stay Sassy’ events, Steph offered free virtual dancing sessions during the 2020 lockdown. Steph has also gone on to offer a variety of high-intensity and low impact workouts on her Instagram. Further, she has recently launched ‘The Power Plan’ which provides a structured 12-week workout plan which can be done either at home or in the gym based on the plan you choose. Steph is an absolute gem to have on your feed.
4. Zanna Van Dijk // @zannavandijk
Queen of the outdoors and the cutest cat (Bella) Zanna provides workouts that are simple, easy to follow and effective. I love the variety of workouts Zanna offers on her page: from a runner’s warmup to a 30 minute upper body workout, Zanna is versatile with the workout content she posts. I would seriously recommend her upper body sessions as they sure do burn.
5. Talila Henchoz // @talilahenchoz
Founder of Club Five, Talila is a force of nature at getting you to move your body in its best form. Alongside Zanna, Talila offered many free home workouts over the lockdown period which motivated both myself and her community of fitness fanatics to work out. I loved Talila’s high-energy style workouts during the first lockdown as they truly encouraged me to drop the ego and embrace the sweat. Talila’s content is real, plus you get her incredible morning coffee dance every morning on her story.
6. Lottie Daisy // @lottiedaisy
The OG AbsAttack angel, Lottie Daisy is an incredible fitness instructor whose positive energy inspires you to push through those bicycle crunches. Offering signature AbsAttack sessions as well as targeted weighted workouts, Lottie is a great page to follow for overall fitness content. However, if you are solely looking for a core workout, Lottie is 100% your woman to follow.
7. MadFit // @madfit.ig
MadFit aka Maddie Lymburner has ever since become an internet sensation since releasing her song workouts on YouTube. Alongside her infamous dance workouts, Maddie also offers a host of quick HIIT sessions, weighted workouts and core work. My favourite workouts from Maddie are actually her 10-minute arm series. They are great for toning your upper body in a way that does not require an hour session.
8. Rhiannon Bailey @rhiannoncbailey
I found Rhiannon Bailey as a recommendation by Zanna and was ever since not let down. She offers barre classes, stretching, dumbbell workouts and HIIT sessions as part of her DailyBailey program. I love Rhiannon’s motivational attitude of making your day the best it can be by starting strong. As another early-bird workout girl, I relate to Rhiannon’s drive to get it done to reap the effects throughout the day.
9. Naturally Stefanie // @naturallystefanie
Alongside her success as a YouTuber, Stef also offers a varied range of workouts on Instagram. From real time workouts to weighted ab circuits, Stef will have you working in no time. I love the combination of vegan food, lifestyle tips and fitness on Stef’s page.
10. Emily Ricketts // @emrickettz
Emily is a great overall fitness account to follow from her passion to make women feel strong. With a strong emphasis on keeping Instagram real (an often incongruous concept), Em’s feed is full of inspiring content which aims to make us stop comparing ourselves to others. Also offering her own fitness program ‘Empower‘, Emily also has many types of workouts saved to her Instagram IGTV.
11. Tally Rye //@tallyrye
If you are looking for a feel-good workout whose emphasis is less on burning fat and more on having fun, Tally is your woman to follow. I love the confidence which Tally oozes in her dance workouts and the message she spreads against diet culture. Tally’s page is a great one to follow for general confidence boosting posts related to leading a healthy lifestyle.
12. Hayley Maddigan // @hayleymaddiganfitness
A spokesperson for the posed versus reality comparison pictures, Haley’s page is full of inspirational messages towards the way in which we, as a society, feel conditioned to make ourselves smaller to fit in with the ‘norm’. Offering workouts that range from HIIT sessions, weighted circuits and mobility classes I appreciate the element of choice on Hayley’s page. I seriously could not recommend her weighted circuits enough as seriously, they make you feel like you have worked the next day.
13. Alice Liveling // @aliceliveling
Having recently just launched her new app ‘Give me Strength’, Alice has offered many effective hoe workouts on her Instagram page. After ditching her former restrictive lifestyle, Alice now promotes the message of being kind to yourself through nourishing your body and moving in the right way. After offering a series of monthly challenged via her Instagram IGTV, it is no wonder that Alice’s social presence has expanded during the lockdown period.
14. Deliciously Ella // @deliciouslyella
Not just the creator of the incredibly successful blog, food company, cookbook and restaurant owner, Deliciously Ella has also become a page that inspires individuals online to move their bodies. I really respect this company for using its platform as a means to inspire a better lifestyle. The page includes some incredible classes from a range of talented instructors. My personal favourite full-body workout is the one offered by the London SoulCycle instructor @laurennaomi.
15. Carly Rowena // @carlyrowena
Potentially the fittest Mum going, Carly graces our Instagram with an inclusive page for mothers, pregnant women and anyone looking to improve their fitness levels. Carly’s positive energy shines through her workouts (but does not distract you from the fact that they are HARD. Her videos are super informative and also help when working on your form. The video linked below is a great example of Carly’s knowledge as a trainer.
